12 Days Morocco experience tour from Casablanca

This 12-day Morocco tour begins in Casablanca with a transfer to Marrakech, where you’ll explore the city’s palaces, gardens, souks, and monuments before crossing the High Atlas via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass to visit Ait Ben Haddou and Ouarzazate. The journey continues through Skoura, the Valley of Roses, and the Dades Gorge before reaching the Todra Gorge and the desert of Merzouga for a camel trek and night in a camp. From Merzouga, travel through Rissani and the Ziz Valley to Midelt, then on to Fes via Azrou’s cedar forests and Ifrane. In Fes, enjoy a full-day guided tour of the Medina, then head north through Meknes and the Roman ruins of Volubilis to the blue city of Chefchaouen. After exploring Chefchaouen’s charming Medina, the tour ends in Tangier with a visit to Hercules Cave before departure.
Arriving at Casablanca Airport we’ll drive 2 hrs to Marrakech before your check in at your Medina Riad. Bed and Breakfast. BB.
After breakfast in your Riad, you can start exploring Marrakech ” the red city of Morocco” and your guide will ensure that you see the most important places of historical and cultural interest, including the Saadian tombs, the Palaces of El Bahia and El Badi and the Ben Youssef Coranic school. Lunch is at a restaurant near the square, then in the afternoon we’ll visit the gardens at Majorelle, Menara and the Koutoubia tower. Overnight in Hotel/Riad.
After breakfast in your Riad, you’ll travel to Ouarzazate via the dramatic Tizi Ntichka Pass and the famous Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah. Ait Ben Haddou village was built by the last Berber chieftain El Glaoui Ethami in late 19th century. The Kasbah is recognised as a UNESCO matrimonial historical site and is still a house of many Glaoui family members. After lunch we’ll continue to Ouarzazate, “the Hollywood of Africa”, where you have the option to visit and see many props used in movies you may already have seen such as Gladiator, and Alexander the Great. Overnight accommodation will be in a hotel in Ouarzazate. Overnight in our Hotel/Riad. Dinner Bed and breakfast.
After breakfast in the hotel, we’ll leave to explore the fascinating Dades and Rose Valleys. Your first stop will be at Skoura to walk within the Birds Valley and visit the beautiful and well preserved Kasbah of Ameridil. Then we’ll continue to the village of Kalaa M’gouna, famous for its roses and rose products.
A rose festival is held here every May, when the roses are harvested. Since this is the road of the thousands Kasbahs you’ll have plenty of opportunities to take some beautiful pictures. Our journey continues to the Dades Gorge where you’ll enjoy seeing the amazing Rock formation called “the monkey Toes” and the standing Kasbah of Kasbah Ait yul. After that we’ll drive to the hotel. Overnight in our Hotel/Riad. Dinner bed and breakfast.
After breakfast in the hotel, we’ll leave for Merzouga via the Todra Gorge and Rissani. After the town of Tinghir, we’ll arrive at the Todra Gorge, the narrowest and the highest in the region taking in the panoramic views of the old mud Berber villages overlooking the valley.
Lunch is at a restaurant under 200m high red cliff of the gorge. In the afternoon the tour continues to Erfoud and Rissani then through the open black desert to the village Merzouga where you’ll be welcomed with a glass of mint tea before checking in to your Riad. Overnight in our Hotel/Riad. Bed Dinner and Breakfast.
After breakfast in your hotel, we’ll start exploring the area. You’ll visit the Gnawa people, originally slaves brought from Sudan, to experience their music and lifestyle and the lake of Merzouga, with its bird populations. You may also want to visit the nomad wire house where many Berber handicrafts are priced lower than in the big cities.
In the afternoon it’s time for your camel trek, ably guided by an experienced camel man where you’ll explore the sand sea of Merzouga. Dinner in front of the tent where you’ll spend the night (the camp in equipped with flash-toilets and shower).
Wake up early to witness the magical sunrise over the Erg Chebbi dunes, a truly unforgettable sight. After your camel ride back to the riad in Merzouga, enjoy breakfast and a refreshing shower before starting your day’s journey. You’ll first explore the region: meet nomadic families in their tents, visit fossil fields, and discover the vibrant souk of Rissani, the cradle of the Alaouite Dynasty, Morocco’s ruling family.
From there, travel through the impressive Ziz Valley, with its lush palm groves framed by dramatic cliffs, and continue across the High Atlas landscapes. The road gradually climbs, offering changing scenery as you approach Midelt, a town nestled between the Middle and High Atlas Mountains, known as Morocco’s “apple capital.” Overnight in a comfortable hotel/riad in Midelt.
After breakfast in your hotel we’ll leave for Fes via Azrou and Ifrane. Stopping en-route in Azrou, in the middle Atlas mountains, in the Cedar forest there, you’ll have the opportunity to see the Barbarian apes in their natural habitat. Then we’re on to Ifrane “the French village”or” the Switzerland of Morocco”. Finally arriving in Fes, with overnight accommodation in our Hotel/Riad .
Most of the day will be spent visiting the medina (the old city) and its alleys – including the famous tanneries and the Quaraouine mosque. Your visit here includes the Jewish headquarter and the royal palace. After lunch in a typical Moroccan restaurant in the Medina, you’ll visit the Merinid tombs and experience a wonderful panoramic view of the city. The afternoon brings a short walk in the new city before returning to your Riad.
After breakfast in your Riad, you’ll travel to Chefchaouen via Meknes and Volubilis. In Meknes you will see the famous Bab Mansour gate, the Sahrij Souani basin and the Mausoleum. Your tour will continue to the Roman site of Volubilis where you’ll see some beautiful Mosaic dating to 25BC. Then we’re on to Chefchaouen. Overnight in our Hotel/Riad.
After breakfast in your Riad you can start exploring the Medina of Chefchaouen; a beautiful unique city with its white washed walls and its blue doors and windows. Unlike many parts of Morocco, this city was occupied by Spain and the influences of Spanish civilisation and architecture are all around. You’ll also have the opportunity to meet locals and walk in this beautiful Medina. Overnight in our Hotel/Riad.
After Breakfast in your Riad, you’ll travel to see Hecrule’s cave in Tangier before arriving at Tangier port for your departure. The tour ends at the port.
