Day 1: Zagora-Tamgroute-Mhamid- Erg Chigaga Dunes
Embark on an unforgettable journey from Zagora to Erg Chigaga Dunes, passing through captivating landmarks along the way. Our adventure commences in Zagora, from where we venture towards M’hamid, pausing at the quaint village of Tamegroute. Immerse yourself in history as we explore the Quranic school, library, and the intriguing underground Kasbah, while unraveling the mysteries of the local green pottery craftsmanship. Continuing through the scenic Draa Valley, marvel at the breathtaking vistas of sand dunes and Kasbahs.
Following a delightful lunch in M’hamid, we delve deeper into the desert, traversing mesmerizing landscapes until we reach Erg Chigaga, home to the region’s largest sand dunes. Brace yourself for an enchanting camel ride amidst the sunset, a spectacle where the crimson sky blends seamlessly with the golden sands. Concluding our day, we retreat to our desert camp for an enchanting evening around a crackling bonfire, accompanied by Berber melodies and a dinner under the twinkling stars.
Day 2: Erg Chigaga – Foum Zguid -Zagora
Awaken to the mesmerizing sunrise atop the dunes, where the radiant hues of the sun illuminate the sandy expanse. After a hearty breakfast, our journey resumes towards Foum Zguid, navigating through a surreal landscape of dunes and the dried-up Lake Iriqui.
En route, we pause to visit a nomadic family, sharing a traditional tea ceremony amidst the vast desert plains. Continuing onwards, we explore the fossil-rich deposits and traverse the majestic Jebel Bani mountains adorned with lush acacias. Following a satisfying lunch in Foum Zguid, we commence our return journey to Zagora, arriving around 16:00.
